São Jorge Lourais Cheese

Ilha Lourais Cheese is a cured cheese with a semi-hard paste and firm texture. A cheese produced in the village of Loural, Ribeira Seca, characterized by its location at high altitude, on the slopes of the island of São Jorge.

It is a cured cheese with a pronounced yellow paste, semi-soft, with a flexible texture, with small openings of irregular size and shape spread throughout the mass. Mild and slightly bitter taste and aroma.

With a minimum curing period of 2 months, it is a product with a strong, clean and slightly spicy aroma and taste. This cheese is made from raw cow's milk, salt and rennet.

Ingredients: Unpasteurized Cow's Milk, backterial cultures, salt, and rennet.
