Why do you recommend 3 Day or faster shipping for perishables?
Certain items within our website including but not limited to chocolates, fish, charcuteria, meats & cheeses are considered perishable and must remain below a certain temperature from our door to yours. To achieve this Portugalia Marketplace ships these items with ice packs within specialized insulated packaging.
In addition, we recommend selecting a shipping method that requires no more than 3 days to arrive to minimize the risk of spoilage. Shipments with perishable items are shipped from our Fall River, MA facility Monday through Thursday in order for deliveries to arrive no later than Friday with the proper shipping method. UPS/FedEx deliver to certain parts of the U.S on Saturday and Sunday. If your address is one that will be delivered on Saturday or Sunday, Portugalia Marketplace will ship accordingly if you are in these areas. All other orders will be shipped the following Monday.
We suggest a 3 day or less shipping method for perishable items at checkout. During warmer months (May to September) we suggest a 2 day expedited or less shipping method. Please be aware that we are located in New England and transit times vary by state. Per UPS/FedEx, expedited services (3 DAY - 2 DAY - OVERNIGHT) will not be guaranteed during holiday months and until further notice.
