Burel is a traditional Portuguese wool fabric, dense and felted, historically produced in the mountain regions of Portugal—most notably Serra da Estrela.

Made from 100% natural wool, burel is tightly woven and then milled, which gives it its characteristic thick, compact, and weather-resistant quality.

Today, burel is also appreciated in contemporary design and fashion for its natural texture, muted earthy tones, and strong connection to Portuguese heritage, often used in coats, blankets, upholstery, and interior accents.
