Distintus is a story of passion, that takes us back to the 19th century, to a small village in the north of Portugal, where two families, each one with its own mill, had both the same passion: olive oil. As fate would have it, they were united forever through a love story that brought the two mills together and gave birth to the Padrão dos Santos family. It is in their mills in Campo de Víboras, in the remote DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) region of Trás-os-Montes, Portugal, that Distintus was born, the olive oil preferred by the great international chefs.
Father and son Padrão dos Santos are the faces of a success story that began in 1839, when his great-great-grandfather started producing olive oil. The quality of the olive oil had been recognized by everyone for five generations, so son Hugo Santos decided in 2014 to take the Distintus to the most demanding of tests: the refined taste of Dieter Koshina. The star chef from Villa Joya, in the Algarve, surrendered immediately and became the first of the Michelin-starred chefs to associate himself with Distintus. For his father, Manuel Padrão dos Santos, it was a dream come true.
Fresh, smooth and with an incredible richness of flavor, with final notes of almond and walnut, Distintus is proud to be the most distinguished olive oil in the world, being chosen by about 70 haute cuisine chefs, including 15 Michelin stars. An author’s olive oil for author’s dishes.
