Quinta da Alorna Reserva das Pedras Castelão Red 2017 - Tejo
Quinta da Alorna, was established by D. Pedro de Almeida.
After conquering the resistant Alorna Fort, in the neighbourhood of Goa, where he held the position of Viceroy, he received from the King of Portugal, D. João V, the title of 1st Marquis of Alorna. D. Pedro de Almeida, was D. Leonor, IV Marquess of Alorna – the poetess Alcipe – grandfather’s. At that time (1723) the Estate, belonging to the Marquis of Alorna, was known as Quinta de Vale de Nabais. Many years later, two of the daughters of D. Leonor sold the “Quinta dos Alorna” (as it was called) to the counts of Junqueira, and the heirs sold it at public auction, passing it on to Dr. Manuel Caroça – great-grandfather of the current shareholders – respectable dentist, merchandise broker and big business man who ended up becoming the sole owner of Quinta da Alorna.

TASTING NOTES
Delicate on the nose, with a certain austerity reminiscent of cherry and blackberry, fine and subtle spice without being overpowering, with a vegetal and minty touch. It’s not a light-bodied wine, but it’s not heavy either; it shows elegance, well-polished tannins, and everything in harmony. The minty note also appears on the palate and lasts through the finish.
PAIRINGS
Grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. It's also a good match for rich pasta dishes and roasted vegetables.
