Quinta Santa Eufemia Port 2007 - Douro

Quinta de Santa Eufemia spans 45 hectares of steep hillside vineyards in the Douro Valley. Established in 1864 by Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho, the estate is now managed by the fourth generation—seven great-grandchildren who have run it as a family business since 1994. They practice herbicide-free farming, and all harvesting is done by hand. The grapes are traditionally foot-trodden and fermented in cement vats, with aging taking place in large oak casks. The region's signature sweet wines are created by halting fermentation with the addition of aguardente (neutral grape spirits), increasing the alcohol content and preserving the wine's natural sweetness.

Colheita 2007 Quinta Santa Eufemia is a Port from a single harvest, aged in oak casks for, at least, seven years and bottled by demand. It has been carefully selected and matured in seasoned oak casks to produce a rich mellowness with the finest balance and elegance of old tawnies.
