Job Description
The Prepared Foods Server is responsible for providing excellent customer service while serving fresh, high-quality ready-to-eat foods. This role involves maintaining a clean and inviting food service area, ensuring food safety standards are met, and creating a welcoming experience that reflects Portugalia Marketplace’s commitment to quality and community.

 

Key Responsibilities

-Customer Service

- Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance with prepared food selections

- Serve hot and cold food items accurately and efficiently

- Answer questions about ingredients, allergens, and product origins

- Upsell and recommend items to enhance the customer experience

-Food Handling & Service

- Portion and package prepared foods according to standards

- Replenish display cases and ensure products are fresh and well-presented

- Monitor food temperatures and adhere to food safety guidelines

- Follow all sanitation and health regulations

Operations

- Maintain cleanliness of service areas, counters, and equipment

- Assist with basic food prep as needed

- Rotate products using FIFO (first in, first out) methods

- Support opening and closing procedures

Team Collaboration

- Work closely with kitchen and store staff to ensure smooth operations

- Communicate inventory needs and low stock items

- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

- Previous food service or retail experience preferred

- Strong customer service and communication skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Basic understanding of food safety practices (ServSafe a plus)

- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
